Located just a short distance West of Flint and only moments from the 1-75/23 corridor allows the people of Flushing to enjoy the advantages of a metropolitan area, while residing in a small town atmosphere.

The City of Flushing is a stable community with quality residential neighborhoods, good schools, beautiful views of the Flint River, a historic and vibrant downtown, parks, and convenient freeway access. Annual events and festivals, such as the Summerfest and Christmas Candlewalk contribute to Flushing's "small town" sense of community.

The Flint River and related topography are the most important visual assets to the community. Spectacular views of the river valley and tranquility of the water create an identity unique to the region. The City has taken full advantage of this resource, especially in the downtown. The river's aesthetic opportunities include physical links to the river in the downtown area, along Main Street east of the Central Business District, and in Riverview Park along the Riverview Trail.
