The Parks and Recreation Committee serves as an advisory board to the Flushing City Council, through recommendations given to the Director of Public Works.
Although the committee officially serves in an advisory capacity, they volunteer many hours each year planning park improvements and participating in events that add to the quality of life in the city. Past projects include Arbor Day Tree distribution, Flint River cleanup, flower planting and the Flushing City Movies in the Park program.
